I worked telecommute to build php websites for Ideacode's clients. Worked in the Zend Framework on a LAMP stack. Technologies Used: PHP, Zend Framework, MySQL, Lucene, HTML, CSS.
I worked as a member of a six man Agile development team on a data management tool. I worked on two versions of the software, 2.5 and 3.0. For 2.5 I designed a project manager and run launcher that would allow users to manage various data files and kick of runs of the various data analysis software. For both 2.5 and 3.0 I rewrote the main input file importer and exporter. Technologies Used: Java, Microsoft Access, Netbeans, MySQL, Eclipse RCP, Hibernate.
I acted as an Open Source software expert, programmer and spare hand in the Academic Technologies Department of Skidmore College. I worked on the administration, configuration and modification of Wordpress, Blackboard, MovableType, WebCT and PhPBB and other computer based educational resources. I was nominated for Student Employee of the Year, one of 13 nominees at a school with 2600 students. Technologies Used: PhP, MySQL, Wordpress MU, MovableType, Blackboard, WebCT, PhpBB, HTML, CSS.
I taught science and mathematics in English to Thai secondary school students (aged 11-17). I translated the Thai curriculum, designed my own teaching materials, designed and taught middle school level science experiments, proctored exams and chaperoned field trips.
I ran a twice weekly tutoring session for small groups of Skidmore Students who were taking the introductory Physics courses.
I ran a two week long computer programming course in each of three sessions of summer camp. Classes ran for three hours each morning. Each session contained a different group of 15 to 20 students, aged 13 - 17 years old. I developed the curriculum, gave lectures, assigned projects, gave one on one help and managed several assistant instructors and Counselors in Training. The material covered was roughly equivalent to what would be covered in a college introductory Computer Science course. Languages covered were Java and C++.
I directed a group of 30 volunteers in building Middle Earth Mud. Each builder was responsible for designing zones containing 100 rooms. For each room they needed to write a paragraph of description, assign exits, determine where objects and computer controller characters would generate and write descriptions for exists.
I conceptualized a recipe sharing website with features not yet seen in other websites. I designed and wrote supporting PhP code, a backing MySQL database, the HTML layout and CSS design and configured a hosting LAMP server environment.Techology Used: PhP, Javascript, JQuery, AJAX, HTML, CSS, MySQL, LAMP
I conceptualized a Multi-User Dungeon design that would extend beyond rooms. Spawned from Middle Earth Mud and will eventually form the basis for Middle Earth Mud 3.0. I started writing an engine from scratch. So far I have written a C++ socket layer, a command interpreter and a game data handling system. This project is paused while I work on Fridge to Food and spend a year teaching English abroad. Technologies Used: C Sockets, C++, XML
I conceptualized a site to store and share game statistics for a long out of print pen and paper roleplaying game. I designed and wrote supporting PhP code, a backing MySQL database, the HTML layout and CSS design and configured a hosting LAMP server environment. Paused to work on Fridge to Food and teach English abroad. Techology Used: PhP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, LAMP.
I founded a Multi-User Dungeon based in Middle Earth. I started with a CircleMUD 3.0 code base and made extensive modifications. I rewrote all systems aside from the primary telnet system and command interpreter. I designed and implemented a custom markup language for saving the data files and added numerous new features and systems. Technologies Used: C/C++, Custom Markup Language
